Andrew Whiting currently holds the rank of NIDAN (2nd Degree Black Belt).

He began his martial arts training during a tour of duty with the United States Army during the seventies. Though it was an inspirational exerience, he felt it wasn't the in-depth hand-to-hand training that he was yearning for, so he continued his path to seeking out that deeper experience.

In the eighties he undertook his first serious Eastern martial arts training called San Sou, wherein circularities were deeply stressed. As usual, Andrew diligently pursued every aspect of his training until he had a better understanding of this amazing art.

At Palomar College, he took a Tai Chi class that was taught by a Taoist named Will Bowen. For the next ten years he studied and learned a Yang style, Tai Chi, along with related Chi Gung and Kung Fu styles.

In the nineties he was in the first class of McBeth North County Aikido, a Toyoda organization. During this period, Sensei Whiting met Sensei Mike Gallo and has been training with him ever since.

Thomas Stuppy
Instructor

Thomas Stuppy currently holds the rank of SHODAN (1st Degree Black Belt)

He began his martial arts training in Wing Chun and after many an arduous night practicing his form and technique, he began to develop a tremendous sense of accomplishment.

He eventually developed a strong interest in the use of the Katana (Japanaese Samarai Sword) after seeing its use demonstrated by the internationally renowned Aikido Sensei Steven Seagal.

He decided to pursue his future interests in both the Katana and hand to hand self defense techniques through the art of Aikido. He chose Kanshinkan Dojo because of its excellence of instruction and the Dojo's international credentials.

This is is seventh year with the dojo and he looks forward to many more years to come.
